JOIN THE ‘#IAM’ MOVEMENT

Hullo Friends..

You gotta stay motivated, keep the year moving with much needed positivity that is why I totally and instantly resonated with this new campaign started by Lagos based Wiz Design Artist James Abinibi tagged the #iAm campaign. There is surely power in fortifying the mind and professing daily affirmations, albeit via visual tools such as these lovely eye-catching #iAm graphics.

The #iAm icon carries within it the African Spirit. The motifs are a representation of our diverse culture and the different elements represent creativity in the authentic African culture.
The #iAm Campaign is aimed at promoting a self motivating attitude among African youths . The average young African is faced with daily challenges enough to criple every aspiration and hopes they have. Yet, we are strong willed and despite all the odds we face we are still ready to put in our best everytime we have an opportunity to. This kind of spirit is what the campaign aims to encourage; our environment does not define us, we can show the world who we really are through our lifestyle, culture and beliefs.
We believe, as Africans – whether male or female, we have the #iAm DNA in our system which enables us to achieve things beyond our presumed capabilities. We are able to create and achieve the moment we set our minds to it. Everyone of us should confidently proclaim this in any way we can; “I am Talent, Culture, Strength, Style, Hope, Love, Awesome… I am everything positive, I am everything I choose to be!”
The #iAm icon carries within it, the African Spirit. The motifs are a representation of our diverse culture and the different elements represent creativity in the authentic African culture.
“I define myself by my thoughts and words. I achieve because I put my mind to it, I am limitless! My Yesterday has nothing on my Tomorrow, I am the Future. Society doesn’t define me, Culture can never hold me back. I am whatever I put my mind to.”

FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS – A MADIBA PLAYLIST

“Real leaders must be ready to sacrifice all for the freedom of their people.” You were a REAL Leader ‘Tata’

Rest in Peace Pa Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

Words cannot describe the global impact Nelson Mandela had.  He came, he saw, he fought, he conquered. Now he is free at last, resting in peace.A life well lived up to a ripe age of 95. He impacted the world and left a legacy. He is an inspiration to everyone.  What more can I say, blessed are those who were in his space and felt his energy, a wish of mine that didn’t come true. I grew up following SA news and apartheid happenings, watched repeatedly Mandela true story films and documentaries.Tributes are everywhere, but I am short of words, and when one is short of words, music does the rest. Here is my personal selection of 7 songs + 1 that affirm his person and his legacy. Rest on Madiba!

This digital artwork of him below was actually done by James Abinibi 2 days before he passed! A premonition you will call it. James has this to say about it.

“I woke up this morning to the news of Nelson Mandela’s death. Coincidentally, I made this digital painting of him 2 days ago after seeing the movie “WINNIE MANDELA”. The movie was about Mandela’s wife Winnie but it reflected a major part of Mandela’s life too. What really moved me to work on this piece was after I saw the part that he became President and had to separate from Winnie because of her public wrong doing but he was still in love with her regardless. Terrance Howard did a wonderful job of playing Mandela in the movie. I got to appreciate Mandela’s personality, his struggles, beliefs and the fact that he was a romantic. He lived a fulfilling life and would always be remembered by what he stood for; freedom. Nelson Mandela isn’t dead, he’s forever in our hearts. He’s forever a true hero. He’s for ever Papa Africa”

It was extremely difficult to make these picks but here goes. Thank you Nelson Mandela

“It is music and dancing that makes me at peace with the world and with myself” – Nelson Mandela

We will continue to beautifully dream and positively do…

Monday Mourning

For death is but a passing phase of Life;
A change of dress, a disrobing;
A birth into the unborn again;
A commencing where we ended;
A starting where we stopped to rest;
A crossroad of Eternity;
A giving up of something, to possess all things.
The end of the unreal, the beginning of the real.

EDWIN LEIBFREED, “The Song of the Soul”

Hi Friends,

Not to sound dreary at the start of a new day or a new month for that matter. The unexpected happens and the inevitable takes us by shock. The entertainment industry was recently shaken by the passing of Paul Walker the ‘Fast & Furious’ Actor. With celebrities, the whole world feels a personal connection . Very tragic and untimely, we pray for the comfort of the family and friends he left behind. Oh, the humanity of all lives and the place of divinity for all in all.

For death is but a passing phase of Life;
A change of dress, a disrobing;
A birth into the unborn again;
A commencing where we ended;
A starting where we stopped to rest;
A crossroad of Eternity;
A giving up of something, to possess all things.
The end of the unreal, the beginning of the real.

But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written..1 Cor 15:54.

Death is the dropping of the flower, that the fruit may swell.

Death is the dropping of the flower,that the fruit may swell.
Henry Ward Beecher – Proverbs from Plymouth Pulpit

A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth. Ecc 7:1. Still I believe, dying young is surely not life’s design or the Creator’s will. May the souls of the departed rest in peace..

For those of us on earth, we should continue to:
